Jaiprakash Agrawal is proof that passion knows no boundaries. An electrical engineer by profession, he spent years working in a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) before starting his own consultancy firm. But his true calling has always been poetry and writing. Today, he is a well-recognized author and poet, known for his work in spirituality, philosophy, and inspiration.
From Engineering to Poetry
Born in Patna and raised in Bhagalpur, Jaiprakash Agrawal graduated in Electrical Engineering from Bhagalpur University in 1978. Though his career revolved around engineering, his heart was always drawn to poetry. Influenced by poets like Raghuveer Sahay, Muktibodh, Gulzar, and Dushyant Kumar, he found joy in expressing emotions through verses.
The Inspiration Behind His Work
Jaiprakash’s love for poetry grew stronger with time. As he aged, his interest shifted towards spirituality and philosophy. Inspired by thinkers like J. Krishnamurthy and Osho, he wanted to explore life’s deeper meanings. His book Our Journey of Life is a collection of 60 poems that take readers through the different stages of life—birth, youth, old age, and death. The poems are rich with metaphors and emotions, making them relatable to readers of all ages.
Writing Process and Approach
Jaiprakash originally wrote Our Journey of Life in Hindi, titled Humaari Jeevanyatra. To reach a wider audience, he got it translated into English by Mrs Ritu Bhatnagar. The book is divided into four parts, each representing a stage of life. His writing is simple, heartfelt, and deeply reflective, capturing everyday feelings and emotions.
Life Lessons Through Poetry
The core message of Our Journey of Life is simple—life is precious, and every moment should be cherished. Just as nature moves in cycles, so does life. There are joys and struggles, light and darkness, but everything is part of the journey. His poems encourage readers to live with awareness and appreciate the beauty of every stage of life.
Recognition and Achievements
Jaiprakash’s work has been widely appreciated. His poetry has been featured in publications like The Daily Guardian, Hans India, and The Daily Excelsior. He received the Glory of India Award 2024 and the Excellence Icon Award by Artists Talk for his contribution to poetry and non-fiction. His Hindi poetry book, Humaari Jeevanyatra, was also recognized by the Asian Academy of Film and Television, Noida. In 2024, his poetry was included in the Wingword Poetry Book.
What’s Next?
Jaiprakash is working on two new books—an English poetry collection titled Nurturing Nature and a non-fiction book on Tulsidas Ramayana. Nurturing Nature explores the beauty of nature and its impact on human life, touching upon environmental concerns and the healing power of nature. His upcoming book on Tulsidas Ramayana dives into the lessons from Lord Rama’s life and their relevance in today’s world.
